I’m a police officer. Have been for 15 years, and still am today.
That’s not background — it’s the context for everything I do here. The directness, the focus on preparation, the belief that having a plan before you need one is the difference between being in control and reacting to whatever comes at you. That’s not a coaching philosophy I picked up somewhere. It’s how I’ve lived professionally for a decade and a half.
It also means I understand firsthand what financial life looks like for police officers and first responders. The irregular hours. The pension decisions that nobody explains well. The overtime that should be building wealth but somehow disappears. The weight of providing for a family in a profession where the stakes are always high.
That’s our natural home. If you’re in law enforcement, fire, EMS, or emergency services, you’ll find that a lot of what we talk about here was built with you in mind.
But That’s Not the Whole Story
Here’s what I’ve come to understand after years of those conversations: the principles don’t change that much based on what you do for a living.
Whether you’re a police officer, a teacher, a nurse, a small business owner, or a two-income household just trying to get ahead — the core challenges are remarkably similar. Too much month at the end of the money. Accounts that exist but aren’t working together. Goals that are clear in your head but not on paper. A feeling that you’re doing the right things but still not getting ahead the way you should be.
The details look different. The math is the same.
What We’re Really Here to Do
The Shield Finance exists because I wanted to serve my community in a different way — not instead of the work I do in uniform, but alongside it.
I still show up in that capacity every day. This is an extension of that same commitment, just in a different arena. It means showing up for families — in law enforcement and beyond — who are working hard and deserve to have their money working just as hard for them.
Our goal is straightforward: help you get on firm financial footing and plan your money so you can plan your life. Not just budget better. Not just save more. Actually build a life that reflects what matters to you, on a timeline that makes sense for your family.
That’s work worth doing for anyone who’s a good fit — regardless of what they do between 8 and 5.
Who’s a Good Fit
We work best with people who are ready to be honest about where things stand, willing to do the work, and looking for a real plan — not just a pep talk.
You don’t need to have it together to start. You just need to want to get there.
If that sounds like you — whether you’re a first responder, an educator, a healthcare worker, or none of the above — we’d love to talk.
